One of the very best beacons on the market, the Mammut Barryvox is small, lightweight, easy-to-use and virtually indestructible. It has been revised multiple times over the years. Now, the digital 3-antenna device has a maximum range and effective search strip width of up to 70m. The device has all the function necessary to search for and locate one or more avalanche victims and mark their respective location on a list. Other features include the group test with clear instructions, digital signal processing in the event of several buried subjects as well as the marking function, which lists buried subjects and allows them to be marked. Devices lacking this function can send rescuers back and forth between two victims, wasting valuable time and reducing the victims? chances of survival. After marking, the Mammut Barryvox transceiver filters out the signals of the other victims so that mountain rescue teams can focus on one victim and save valuable time.
The Barryvox guides the rescuer to the location of the victim acoustically and by using symbols, which makes the search much easier. Another improvement compared to earlier models is the automatic switch from send to search (Auto Revert): If the rescuer doesn’t move for 4 minutes, it is assumed that there was a secondary avalanche and the device switches to SEND mode. This is extremely important for your own safety when looking for companions!
The BarryMount carrying system is yet another excellent feature. It is easy to carry and adjust. Plus, you can open and close it using one hand. The carrying system almost completely rules out the possibility of activating search mode, increasing your safety.
